About the safe student housing program

This program aims to help students find rental properties that have passed a City of Cincinnati fire inspection.

This is a voluntary program for landlords. At the request of a landlord or a tenant, Cincinnati Fire Department personnel will inspect a rental property (free of charge) to see if it meets fire code standards. Also, a landlord may attach the fire inspection report as part of an addendum to a tenant’s lease as well as the Tenant Landlord Commitment (TLC) Addendum which both parties sign.

All rental units of the building must pass inspection for the property to be listed on this site. If the property passes the fire inspection, it will be listed here for two years.

How To Request An Inspection

Any landlord, tenant, or parent of a tenant may request a fire inspection by submiting a Fire Inspection Request or calling 513-357-7585

Any changes to the interior or exterior of a listed property may void approvals issued by the Cincinnati Fire Department pursuant to the Cincinnati Fire Code.
